What is Geocharts.com?

Geocharts.com is a web-based poll and mapping solution. It allows anyone to easily create a poll in a few simple steps and place that poll on your website, blog or social site profile.

You can control how your poll looks and works and results are available immediately. We are also the only site on the web to take your results and map them for each individual country and on a region-by-region basis for the USA and Canada.

 

Do I need to install anything on my website?
No, there is nothing to install, however you do need to paste a snippet of code on yoru website.

 

When you create a poll at Geocharts.com you will generate a few lines of code which you simply need to place on your website where you would like your poll to show up.

 

What are the benefits of adding a Geocharts.com poll to my website or blog?

What is the free sign-up? Is it really Free? What's the catch?
Currently Geocharts.com is in a Beta testing period. Yes, accounts are free during Beta testing. Each Beta tester can have up to 10 polls in their account. If you are happy with the application and you would like to lift this 10 poll limit please contact us for pricing.

 

So what's the catch? Well we don't consider it "a catch", but if you notice any bugs or can think of a way we can improve our service please let us know.

 


Does it work for any website?

Geocharts.com requires your website users are able to run javascript code in their browsers. All modern browsers are capable of running javascript. It is unlikely but possible that a user could turn javascript off. To view the maps, users must be able to run flash files in their browser. Again the vast majority of users are able to run flash in their browsers. ( more than 99% of all browsers have flash )

What plans do you offer?
During the BETA period, all BETA account are free, but limited to 10 polls. Please contact us if you wish to create an unlimited commercial account.

What is a BETA testing and why is there a BETA testing period?
BETA testing refers to the current development state of our service. Specifically, during BETA we are still testing out various aspects of the software and we are allowing end users to create accounts, login and use the software at no cost. BETA testers should be aware that the service is still in active development and their will inevitably be bugs and usability issues.

 

Although it isn't required, we would appreciate if you can let us know if you find any bugs and/or your honest feedback on our service.

I don't know anything about web programming, can I still add the javascript snippet code to my site on my own?
Yes, it is fairly easy to add the code to your website, however, it does require that you have access to edit your website. During BETA testing we will primarily be dealing with people that know how to do this. However, once we officially launch we will be able to offer more help in this respect.

Can I cancel my account whenver I want?
Yes, you can cancel or downgrade your account whenever you want. During the Beta test period please contact us to cancel your account. This process will be automated once Geocharts.com launches publicly.

Why is Geocharts different than all the other poll creation websites?
Geocharts.com is not your standard web poll creation website. Our service is unique in that we map your web poll results based on a users location. This creates fun, interesting and useful interactive maps of your polls. We do this by capturing a users IP address and converting that to the users location. We constantly update our backend software that does this conversion so that results are reliable and accurate.

 

Furthermore, we are currently working on a few killer features in order to offer more useful and unique features for your polls.

Will my member information remain private?

Yes, we take member privacy very seriously. We will not rent, sell, lease, or give away any of the information you provide to us.


Can I export my poll data?
Currently you cannot export your poll data. However, we are working on this functionality and you will soon be able to export your poll data.

What is a javascript snippet?
A javascript snippet is simply a few lines of text. When you create a poll you can copy and paste this text into your website to be able to display the poll.

Will my polls be private or can anyone see them?
Polls can be private or pulbic. It's up to you.

 

If you place your poll in a private or password protected area of your website nobody but people that have access to that private area will be able to view them.

 

Coming Soon: If you want as many people as possible to be able to view your poll, you can also choose to be in our poll directory. To be included in the poll directory simply select a category for your poll when you are on the poll creation page.

How do I upgrade, downgrade or cancel my account?
During the BETA testing period you will need to contact us to upgrade, downgrade or cancel your account and it will be prompty done. Once we officially launch, this process will be automated.

Can I add video and images to my polls?
This feature is currently in development.
